the
TAI CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT IS FINAL

Unfortunately, some members either didn't respond by the court's deadline, or did not see the notices of the settlement distribution. Because all of the settlement proceeds have been distributed, there is no provision for late claims.

While this is the sad news, the good news is that even if a settlement check was not received ALL TAI members benefit from the lawsuit in that their campground contracts are rescinded and they have no further obligation to pay Thousand Adventures or any of its supposed successors. (Note: this is not true if you have actively used the TAI campgrounds or Travel America campgrounds since 2001.)

NAM Response:

NAM has received numerous complaints regarding Travel America, Inc. and their various subsidiaries or aliases attempting to extract undeserved annual payments from former TAI members. They have been repeatedly instructed by the law firm of   Napier, Wolf, and Napier to stop such activity.

You do not have a contract with Travel America nor do you receive any benefit from them.

They simply obtained your information from a bankrupt camping club, started demanding money from you — and never promised you anything in return.

  1. Are you getting any value from Travel America?

  2. Have you EVER signed a contract with Travel America?

If the answer is " No " then you can ignore their billing statements.     Keep copies of them in case you ever have a chance to report them to a consumer protection or other agency.

We are unaware of ANY case where Travel America brought a lawsuit against a former TAI member to collect.

Their normal pattern is to harass and intimidate and perhaps even threaten to sue - all of which are violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - but they never bring suit.   They are a lot of bark with no bite.   Should a member ever be sued, they need to immediately notify NAM so that a solid defense can be mobilized.     Perhaps even a once-and-for-all declaration that their attempts are bogus.

We are convinced that the activities of Travel America and their various subsidiaries and co-conspirators are not merely negligent, but malicious and perhaps illegal. We are contacting several State Attorneys General and Federal agencies soliciting their support to end these harassments.

Remember:

Your complaints about Travel America are NOT “contract disputes”.

You do not have a contract with Travel America nor do you receive any benefit from them.

They simply obtained your information from a bankrupt camping club, started demanding money from you — and never promised you anything in return.

Now they “Hide their money” in order to keep you from suing them and harass you demanding money they do not deserve.

Our web site contains several items that can help you file your complaints.
