" Alone and our voice is small. — Together we will be heard. " - Barbara Bowen, NAM
" Many voices make a platform on which all of us can stand " - Murna Lindsey, NAM

What great thing would you try if you knew ahead of time that you would not fail?

Merry Christmas from your friends at NAM

Sure miss you folks.

Haven’t been able to travel this year, mostly for health reasons.

I really hope next year will be different.

I miss the good, honest people I meet in every campground I’ve ever visited.

I want you to make the world around you a better place today.

Your world will change because of something you said or did.

Make that change a change for the better...

What can you do TODAY to bring happiness, peace of mind, or comfort

to someone in your world?

I care about you and I want you to be well and to help others.

Dan

Happy New Year Too,,,

I SAID A CHRISTMAS PRAYER FOR YOU

I said a Christmas Prayer for you because the season’s near.
I didn’t ask for riches but for gifts so much more dear.
I asked for joyful gatherings with your family all around,
And for Carols to inspire you with their old familiar sound.
I asked for quiet moments in your heart on Christmas morn
For a special time to celebrate the Savior who was born;
I asked for friends to send their best that you might know they care,
I asked for peace and love and hope

I know God heard my prayer.

A Christmas Wish

May you always have
Love to share
Health to spare,
and Friends who care.

A New Direction for NAM

We’ve been working hard to help individuals who have been high-pressured or ripped of by the campground mafia. There have been many successes. It’s time now to start focusing on two more efforts:

  • Educate the general public

  • Educate and enlist the support of legislators and enforcement officials.

Remember, what we at NAM can accomplish is limited unless you too get on the bandwagon. Write your congressman, attorney general, and anyone else you can think of. Tell them what happened to you and ask what they are doing to keep it from happening to others.

Remember
          - If they don’t see complaints - there must not be a problem!

NAM Plan of Action

Our next newsletter, June 2010, will contain a copy of one of the letters we’ve sent to government representatives and hopefully, their responses.

Why don’t you send US a letter? Tell us what we can do better or different. Send us copies of letters you’ve mailed to government agencies asking for help.

YOU provide the energy that keeps us at work trying to fix these problems.

NAM Reunion 2009

NAM Conference in Dayton, OH

Several NAM members gathered at the Golden Corral in Dayton, Ohio last October to evaluate NAM projects and discuss possible new ones.

Mississippi Attorney General Responds to Complaints

Write to this AG... Let them know that Betty is not the only one!

5 Star Snubs the MS Attorney General - Ignores Warning!

Betty, a reader from Florida wrote to tell us that she has been harassed by the stooges representing 5 Star (Mississippi). They continued their efforts to levy assessments and demands for additional dues from Betty and her husband AFTER Betty’s letter cancelling her membership. They also threatened to turn the matter over to their ‘Pre-litigation Attorneys’!. Betty re-filed her complaint against 5 Star with the Mississippi Attorney General, Jim Hood, who reacted to her complaint by sending two letters to 5 Star demanding that they explain their actions. 5 Star did not respond to his demands.

PLEASE NOTE: The Attorney General can not fix the problems created by 5 Star’s bad behavior if they don’t have your complaints!

It’s important that you register your complaints with his office each time 5 Star tries to intimidate you.

They ‘tricked you’ into signing a contract that they allege only after the fact, obligates you to give them money every year ‘until you die’. This is a false al ligation.

Their ‘Pre-litigation Officials’ deliberately try to give the false impression that they are ‘attorneys’. All evidence so far convinces us that they are NOT attorneys, but just hacks whose job is to try to intimidate you.

You can add to this list of grievances - but you MUST tell them to this conscientious Attorney General if you want to stop the bad guys...

Write to the Mississippi Attorney General. Tell him about your problem with 5 Star.
Ask what he has done to fix the problem. You might be happy to hear his response

You have 5 letters to send.

Do it now! Your friends are depending on you...

The crooks try to get us to give in to them by saying that ‘It’s just business!’
Well, It’s NOT just business. It’s theft! It’s harassment! It’s deceit!

DON’T GET SCARED! GET ANGRY! FIGHT BACK! FOLLOW THROUGH!
STICK TOGETHER WITH THE OTHER VICTIMS!

When Should You Authorize a Company
to Withdraw Money from Your Account?

N-E-V-E-R

Once it is started, your bank may require you to get the other person/company’s permission to stop it.

You increase the likelihood that your account information will be accidentally or fraudulently disclosed.

It’s OK for YOU to tell your bank where and when/where to send money — but you should never authorize anyone else to take money from your accounts.

NAM has had complaints from people who had difficulty trying to cancel a campground’s authority to automatically take annual fees from their checking or credit card accounts.

Pass the Word !

Your friends need to know:

Never pay money up-front to sell a campground membership or a time-share.

Always find out, before the purchase, how you terminate your membership when you no longer wish to pay annual dues.

Never try to settle a dispute about your membership over the phone.

Get it in writing. If it isn’t in writing — it didn’t happen.

ONLY IN AMERICA…

Do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions
but healthy people can buy cigarettes up front.

Do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Do banks leave both doors open and then chain the ‘pens’ to the counters.

Do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our junk in the garage.

Do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER, WHY…

The sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Women can’t put on mascara with their mouth closed?

You don’t ever see the headline ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?

Is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?

Is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?

Is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dish washing liquid made with real lemons?

Is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

Don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Are they called apart-ments when they are all stuck together?

Afterthoughts !

  • A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

  • [I NEVER admit to my wife that I got lost in our RV
              — I do, however, sometimes take the ‘scenic route’.]

  • Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird — sleep late.

  • Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

  • Always read stuff that will make you look good If you die in the middle of it.

  • The cost of living hasn’t affected its popularity.

  • All I ask is a chance to prove that money can’t make me happy.

  • I used to be indecisive. Now, I’m not so sure.

  • I am neither for, nor against apathy.

  • I had amnesia once — or was it twice.

  • When everything’s coming your way, You’re in the wrong lane.
